Kurt Angle still atop the Power 25

In the latest release of WWE's Power 25, Kurt Angle retains the top spot for the 4th week in a row. No changes in the next three positions too this week with John Cena, Triple H and Rey Mysterio holding these spots. Big Show moves two paces to 5th and Rob Van Dam jumps to 6th from 10th position last week. Other major movers - Undertaker to 11th (from 16th), Super Crazy and Nunzio made their entry into the list! Chris Benoit, Randy Orton and others fell by a position or two.

Saturday, February 18, 2006

Mike Knoxx and Neidkirk are booked for next weekend's Smackdown house show in Reading, PA against Matt Hardy and Animal, so probably they might be the next ones called up to Smackdown.

On the March 19th Smackdown house show in Nashville, Ken Kennedy confronts Jerry Lawler. Plus Kennedy will also confront Harley Race at the SD house show in Joplin, MO on March 27th as well as confront Steve "Dr.Death" Williams in Alexandria, LA on March 11th; Monroe, LA on the 13th; Tulsa, OK on the 25th; and Oklahoma, LA on the 26th. For the SD house show on the 12th in Lafayette, LA Dr. Death will be the special referee for the Triple Threat main event between Angle, Orton and Henry while Kennedy will be the special ring announcer.

Ricky Steamboat is scheduled to be the guest referee for two WWE championship matches between John Cena and Edge in Waco, TX and Tyler, TX the weekend of March 11-12, while he is also scheduled to guest referee the World Championship match between Kurt Angle and Randy Orton at the SD show in Tulsa, OK on the 25th.

On the John Cena Superstar page on, they have a link to his blog on MySpace. I know Gregory Helms has a blog on there too, but have no mention of that on his Superstar page.

Stacy Keibler is now the sole female celebrity remaining on 'Dancing With The Stars', as Soap Opera star and talk show host Lisa Rinna was voted off by viewers this week. Stacy and partner Tony Dovolani, NFL great Jerry Rice & partner Anna Trebunskaya and former 98 Degrees singer Drew Lachey & partner Cheryl Burke are the final three pairs in the competition, as announced on the results show on ABC earlier tonight.

Details on Bret Hart's decision to join the HOF

Vince McMahon personally called Bret Hart on or around the morning of 2/6 to invite him to take part in the WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies this April. McMahon pushed the idea that Hart could do it for his fans as a way to thank them since it was obviously something that his fans wanted, as a way to give them closure.

Hart agreed, but in keeping with his stance that he would never work for WWE again, is not being paid for the appearance. WWE will handle the travels and lodging costs associated with bringing the former WWF champion and his wife to Chicago for the Wrestlemania festivities.

While WWE creative would love to get Hart involved in the Shawn Michaels-Vince McMahon storyline, he has continued to turn down any overtures regarding that involvement.

It is expected that Hart will appear at Wrestlemania 22 in a segment where he and the other Hall of Fame inductees are introduced to the live crowd in the AllState Arena. Hart's final Wrestlemania appearance was 1997's Wrestlemania 13 in the same venue, where he defeated Steve Austin in an I Quit match that set Austin off on the path to become the biggest babyface of the last decade.

A few readers have asked if the late Owen Hart would also be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I've heard no such talk. Owen's widow Martha has been on estranged terms, to say the least, with not just WWE but the Hart family in recent years.

Update On Stacy Keibler/James Bond, & More

-- Thanks to Stephan Martin for sending this in: This morning on a local radio station (O-Rock 105.9 in Florida) had Stacy Keibler on the show and she talked about Dancing with the Stars, The WWE and how she would like to get into more acting

-- Speaking of Stacy Keibler, she revealed on Entertainment Tonight last night that she was trying out for a James Bond movie but couldn’t do the British accent. Tonight they are going to have a feature on her in lingerie, using what looks to be footage from WWE.

Stacy Keibler/WWE, Hulk Hogan/Chuck Norris

-- Last night on the Hallmark channel they aired the episode of Walker, Texas Ranger with Hulk Hogan in it. Hogan played the role of Boomer Knight, a born again Christian ex-con running the community center for kids and helping Walker take kids out of gangs.

-- In the article ran by Entertainment Tonight’s website on Stacy Keibler, they refer to her as a former WWE star. Expect even more media appearances from Stacy if she continues to advance in the Dancing With The Stars competition.

Backstage Reaction To Mysterio/Orton

Source: WrestlingObserver,

-- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the feeling backstage is that Rey Mysterio is more over with fans and would make a better challenger for the title than Randy Orton.

WrestleMania, Stacy Keibler Story, RAW News & More

Today's Henry Daily Herald in Georgia features an article regarding WWE's developmental territory. The piece features a lot of quotes from Deep South owner Joe Hamilton. is reporting that Mancow has signed on for a role at WrestleMania. The site is reported to be pretty reliable when news is concerned about radio people in and around the Los Angeles area.

During last night’s WWE RAW on MUN2 which was a repeat of last week’s show, they aired Carlito in a commercial. In the commercial Carlito said that he will be on the “VJ” show tonight which will air at 9pm.

The airing of WWE RAW is week has been rescheduled on AFN. The show originally airs Tuesday’s at 11pm and Wednesday’s at 5am (local Baghdad time), this week RAW will be airing on Friday and Saturday at 11pm (Friday) and 5am (Sunday).

There is a big story on WWE Diva Stacy Keibler at the ET website.

WWE Notes: Howard Stern/Stacy Keibler, Triple H

Howard Stern had Dancing With The Stars II performer Lisa Rinna as a guest this morning. While discussing the show Howard said he felt Stacy Kiebler's inclusion ruined the show because she is basically a dancer who is trained. He said that the producers are taking calls from agents from people with dance backgrounds and that takes away from the legitimacy of the program and contest. Howard felt Stacy would win but Lisa Rinna kept positive and said if Howard felt so strongly to have his listeners vote for her. Howard did not attack Stacy personally at all, but questioned her inclusion and if the "fix was in."

White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski was on ESPN 2’s Cold Pizza this morning. During the interview, Pierzynski was asked about his recent visit to the White House when host Jay Crawford asked him if he thought that President Bush was a wrestling fan. The show then played clips of Pierzynski appearing in TNA, when AJ said that President Bush was from Texas and that he thought that everyone from Texas was a wrestling fan. Pierzynski said that he actually had to train for his time in the ring and that the whole deal took about two weeks of his time. has a new article up about HHH and Jesus wrestling over the name "King of Kings."

Evening Update: RAW News, Batista, Styles, More

Source: WrestlingObserver,

For those of you hoping to watch Raw on MUN2 tonight, their schedule says that they are airing a repeat from last week. That makes sense since USA should get the first run airing

Raw last week was No. 3 and No. 4 on cable, trailing the NASCAR Budweiser Shootout on TNA (4.6 rating) and the Pro Bowl (4.5 rating). In 18-34, Raw beat out both the Pro Bowl and NASCAR, finishing only behind Real World Road Rules. In 18-49, hour one of Raw was No. 1, Pro Bowl No. 3 and hour two of Raw was No. 3. In 25-54, it was No. 3 and No. 4.

We've gotten tons of e-mails about this, which is No Way Out commercials on TV with Batista vs. Undertaker as the advertised main event. WWE sends out these commercials obviously months in advance. Still, in the world we live in, I find it impossible to believe there isn't a way to recall and update commercials. I've seen the same problems with UFC when there is an injury to a main eventer a month out. It's a problem with deadlines and that injuries happen. There were plenty of ads long after the death of Eddy Guerrero listing him on house shows and on Survivor Series.

Joey Styles' pony tits remark by accident at Raw was not edited off the Australia replay on Tuesday, so it may make tomorrow night's U.S. show

Billy Graham is going on the road with book signings. He'll be at Borders on West Ridley Rd. in Lutherville, MD on Sunday at 2 p.m. So I guess that means he'll be at No Way Out. He'll be at Borders in Princeton, NJ on Tuesday at 7 p.m. His rescheduled signing in Pittsburgh will be on 2/26 at 2 p.m. at Borders on Mall Blvd. He'll be in Norfolk on 2/28 at Walden Books on Monticello Ave., at 6 p.m. He'll be in Mesa, AZ on 3/4 at Borders Books on South Alma School Rd at 2 p.m.

Backstage News On Dusty Rhodes/WWE, Hall Of Fame

PWInsider is reporting that last year Dusty Rhodes opted out of appearing at the Hall Of Fame because he knew that Hogan would overshadow everyone, and this year he thinks that both Hart and Guerrero would overshadow him.

Dusty Rhodes is in the process of finalizing a long-term deal with WWE and moving up in power. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Stephanie McMahon wanted to sign him to an exclusive deal, but Rhodes likes being able to work indy dates and do autograph signings. There is also talk of signing Rhodes to perform on TV in some way.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts Getting Married

Jake Robert’s fiancé, Judy has let us know that she is getting married to Jake this upcoming Friday.

The two met 20 years ago at the James L Knight Center in Miami, FL. They hung around in Florida together for 4 years, then they lost track of each other as they married other people.

On July 14, 2004, Judy made contact with Jake, while suffering his website. He replied back with something in the email that only Jake and Judy would know, just so Judy would know it was truly him. He then gave her his phone number, and she called him.

Jake then came back from England to the United States on October 29, 2004 to rekindle their relationship, which has had some ups and downs as they wre not the same people they were 15-20 years ago. Now it has come to the two being married this Friday, February 17, 2006 at 7PM.

Big Update On The Undertaker/Orton Incident

To update on the situation with Undertaker and Bob Orton, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Orton had hepatitis as a teenager and had actually forgotten he had it because it was 35 years ago. Apparently he was just sick for a couple weeks then never thought about it again. Randy also had no idea.

Bob was recently tested by a WWE doctor, who is friends with The Undertaker, and he was alarmed when he was bleeding all over him in the Hell In A Cell. Bob then got another test was was told he was fine, which is what he initially thought as he has had tons of blood baths, always drank, and never made anyone else sick before. He is blaming the doctor for alarming everyone about it when there was really nothing to worry about.

Taker was alerted and was furious at Johnny “Ace” Laurinaitis, who knew the results of the test and didn’t tell Taker. Johnny Ace had to go to a house show and personally talk things out with a very unhappy Undertaker.

As you’ve probably guessed, these events are likely what lead to his release from the company.

X1 sent word that WWE is advertising a Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry WWE Title match, with Steve Williams as the special ref, for the 3/12 house show in Lafayette, LA. Rey Mysterio will take on JBL in a best 2 out of 3 falls match. That would make it appear that WWE is going to go forward with having Orton beat Rey for the Mania main event this Sunday, which has been rumored around the company.

What Happened Off-Air At RAW Last Night

Kyle Weaver sent this along:

I attended Raw tonight in Greensboro, NC (my first live show ever) and I thought I'd give you my impressions of what I saw.

Attendance approximately 12,000, just over half full.

(1) Val Venis beat Doug Basham with a Money Shot.

(1) Kane beat Johnny Parisi in a squash in 90 seconds.

(2) Tyson Tomko & Gene Snitsky beat Chris Hammrick & a partner.

(3) Goldust beat Trevor Murdoch.

(4) Viscera beat Rob Conway.

The HHH vs. Big Show match was well received. The crowd popped big for the barricade spot. HHH was very "face" over when he entered and had heel heat by the time he left. Some Big Show chants here as well.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Eugene came and went. I don't think anyone noticed. A few "Mama's Boy" chants though.

The Striker promo got good heat. Seriously.

The crowd wasn't into the RVD/Masters match at all, but did pop for the Five Star.

The crowd was into Flair's promo, though there was some definite disappointment in the crowd (including myself) that he didn't wrestle.

Most of the backstage stuff didn't seem to have much crowd effect. I wasn't sitting where I could see the screen, so I'm not really sure most of what happened. It didn't seem to matter.

The crowd didn't seem to really get hot tonight until the main event, Cena vs. Edge. I must admit, I was surprised how much the crowd was into Cena. I saw a feel people booing (mostly guys), but he was very much over. I was impressed.

Biggest pops:
1. Cena
2. Flair
3. HHH
4. HBK

Biggest heat:
1. HHH
2. Edge
3. McMahon
4. Striker

Bret "The Hitman" Hart at Hall of Fame Ceremony

Bret Hart has agreed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame

Bob Orton has been released by WWE.

Triple H Upset With, More Backstage News

WWE is apparently looking for a Vice President Of Interactive Programming to oversee everything on their website. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Chris Chambers, who currently heads the website, has been told to break more news stories on the website in order to run off “competition” wrestling news sites like this one. However, he has two sides telling him to do different things. One side says to break more news, and the other side (Triple H) is telling him not to jeopardize anyone’s character or any of the storylines. Triple H was most recently upset over the use of his real name on a news item on the site.

There was also some heat on the website for putting up pictures from backstage at RAW of people who were “injured” or due to storylines shouldn’t be backstage.

Don’t be surprised if WWE starts making their website more news-oriented. This includes hiring a bunch of new writers, monitoring wrestling news on radio and the internet, and trying to break certain stories before they leak out.

Tidbits: Kurt Angle Hurt, HBK's Future, & More

Partial credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

-- Christian and Chris Jericho are being cast for a movie role in “Shoot Em Up” starring Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti. Chris Jericho is also scheduled for a part in a play in Toronto this summer.

-- Speaking of Christian, site reader Paul Michael sent word that WWEShop is still selling his t-shirts.

-- Shawn Michaels seems to be looking to slow things down after WrestleMania, and just come in for special occasions and big events.

-- It’s said that Kurt Angle is trying hard not to let anyone know how sore his neck is, as he really wants to have a good title run that he has been trying to get for well over a year.

Kurt Angle Update, Watch RAW Early, SmackDown!

For WWE fans in the US, you will be able to watch RAW before it airs Thursday on USA. RAW will air Wednesday at 8 p.m. on MUN2.

After Smackdown went off the air on Friday night, the local 10 o'clock news (UPN 33 Miami) had a segment and interview with Kurt Angle, (probably taped when the Royal Rumble was in town.) In it, he talks about how he felt his company lost faith in him as a champion and how he has worked harder than ever in the last two and a half years to prove he can carry the title and lead the company. He also said he plans on wrestling for another 5 years and would like to get into acting, stating he has a movie coming out where he has a lead role. The segment was called All Access: Kurt Angle. The news channel advertised that after next weeks Smackdown, they will have a similar segment with Triple H.

A&E will be airing the documentary "The Unreal Story of Professional Wrestling" this Wednesday (February 15th) at 9AM and 3PM.

Roddy Piper, Tajiri/ECW, Juventud Guerrera & More

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper is doing a one man show about his life on 2/19 at the Empires Theatre Pen Centre, St. Catherine, Ontario.

WWE has contacted the recently released Tajiri about working this year's ECW One Night Stand PPV. Tajiri is currently on tour in Mexico.

WWE is considering calling up the Highlanders (Robbie and Rory McAllister) from the developmental roster.

Jackie Gayda recently did an interview and mentioned that John Laurinatis basically approached Charlie Haas about returning at Eddy Guerrero's funeral in Phoenix. Laurinatis was said to be actually recruiting talent at the funeral.

Juventud Guerrera recently stated in an interview from Mexico that TNA, CMLL, AAA and NOAH are all trying to work with him. He also said the reason he is no longer with WWE is due to his visa not being renewed. You've likely read the past reports that we've posted about his huge ego so judge for yourself.

Dusty Rhodes News; RAW GM, Ric Flair Storyline

Dusty Rhodes is in the process of signing a long-term deal with WWE that will see him gain influence, reports the Wrestling-Observer Newsletter.

Rhodes did not agree to an exclusive contract, however, since he enjoys making indy appearances. The new deal lists him as both a creative worker and a television performer.

The wrestling industry veteran had been attached to two recent storyline ideas but neither came to fruition.

The first of those would have seen Dusty Rhodes return to the airwaves as the General Manager of RAW. But, Vince McMahon put plans to introduce a new GM on hold after discovering that he enjoyed playing the part. Now, with McMahon in the storyline with HBK, there will not be a new GM until after WrestleMania.

There was also talk of pairing Rhodes with Ric Flair for a match at WrestleMania, but Rhodes nixed the idea.

Basham Update, PPV In Canada, WWE Diva Theme

- After not being on television for several months, Danny Basham is now back on the raod with the WWE. There is no word as to why he wasn’t on television. Danny Basham has only made one television appearance on Heat in September after being trade from SmackDown! to RAW in late June. When he in fact made his appearance he had a new gothic look. However, since September he hasn’t been seen since now and has been wrestling random members of the Spirit Squad at Raw house shows.

Shawn Michaels Not At Event, Orton Segment Edited

- Shawn Michaels was scheduled last night at a RAW house show in Tallahassee, where he was booked in the main event. However, he was un able to attend the event for unknown reasons. Currently there is no update as to if he will be at tonight's or tomorrows show.

- John Cena was off this weekends tour because he was doing promotional work in India.

- Chavo stated last night at the Tallahassee event about how he feels about the Guerrero angle, and he stated that he didn't like the idea at all.

- Reports indicate that in the UK, some of the Orton segment was cut out. They ran the stuff from last week, but had to edit this week because showing the Guerrero book was considered a product plug, which is against their broadcast standards. There was also a jump cut before the Mysterio attack, but they had the same jump cut in the U.S. as well.

Kurt Angle(c) vs. The Undertaker

No. 1 Contender's match for Wrestlemania XXII
Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton

United States Title

Rob Van Dam Hoping To Get Push By WWE

According to reports, WWE superstar Rob Van Dam fears that he will no be getting a better push than which he has had in previous years with WWE. He expressed these thoughts in a recent interview with the latest edition of the WWE Magazine.

He also spoke with the Long Bach Press-Telegram. He said "I had to fight with them for everything," on his previous WWE stint. "Hopefully, it will be different now. As far as merchandising goes, they're supposed to have my new t-shirt available at the Royal Rumble and I'll be on the cover of the new Raw magazine. I think I showed them something with my interview at the ECW pay-per-view (June 12, 2005), (so) now maybe they have more confidence in my ability behind the microphone."

When brought up who he would like to wrestle, brought up Shawn Michaels: "Long term, I wanna go after HBK... A lot of my friends had mentioned that they'd like to see me in the ring with him, but I wasn't really feeling it. But, I ended up ordering Summerslam in August and watched Shawn Michaels wrestling Hulk Hogan, I changed my views. I saw two very skilled guys have a great match and bring out the best in each other. I feel like I could bring that out again in HBK."

Two Matches Confirmed for Next Week's Smackdown!

Handicap 2 on 3 Match
Kurt Angle and Undertaker vs. MNM & Mark Henry

Feud between Randy Orton (insulting Eddie Guerrero) vs. Rey Mysterio
A tease between a Booker T/Boogeyman Feud
A tease between Matt Hardy joining MNM
One more match for No Way Out 2006

WWE SmackDown! Report (2/10/06)

- We opened with video clips from last week where Rey Mysterio was confronted by Randy Orton for Rey's #1 Contender opportunity. Yes, they included the "Eddie's in hell" line. Michael Cole said Rey is standing up for Eddie's name and legacy. Yes, they included Randy's line that Rey has as much chance of winning the WWE Title as Eddie does of coming back to life. Rey accepted Randy's challenge. No regrets from last week with WWE making a bold statement to push on with the Eddie storyline.

- Tazz and Michael Cole discussed Undertaker-Mark Henry. It's the first time in four months Undertaker's wrestled on Smackdown. Not exactly the best way to get him back in the ring.

1 -- MATT HARDY vs. JBL (w/Jillian Hall) vs. ORLANDO JORDAN vs. CHRIS BENOIT -- #1 Contender's match for the U.S. Title

Before the match could start, Booker T and Sharmell came to the ringside area. Booker, who was still on crutches, smiled in Chris Benoit's face. Booker sat in on commentary as Benoit attacked JBL in the ring. Hardy made a quick cover on Orlando for a nearfall. JBL and Orlando double teamed Benoit. JBL delivered a big boot. Jordan made a cover for a one count. Booker said Michael Cole should be kicked out of the business for his biased opinions. Benoit snapped off an arm drag on JBL then went for the Sharpshooter. JBL escaped the hold. Benoit locked in the Crossface at 2:15. Orlando broke up the hold. Hardy and Benoit began arguing over pin attempts. Booker defended himself as a fighting champion. On the outside, Benoit and Hardy threw JBL into the ring steps. Benoit and Orlando fought back into the ring at 6:10. Benoit delivered a series of chops as Booker continued to ramble. Benoit hit a top rope superplex. Benoit held the back of his head as we went to commercial.

[Commercial Break]

Benoit scored a nearfall on Orlando right out of the break. JBL reeled off a series of elbows on Benoit while Cole insulted Booker, who was hyperventilating. Hardy scored a nearfall on JBL following a suplex. Booker complained about needing instant replay for the bad officiating. Cole responded that Booker wouldn't be U.S. Champion if there were replay. Cole let the statement hang in the air while Booker stared straight ahead. JBL hit the clothesline from hell on Hardy after Orlando helped him out. Orlando made a cover, but JBL shoved him aside and covered Hardy. Benoit came to live with German Suplexes on JBL and Orlando. The crowd came to life for the first time as well. Benoit hit a top rope headbutt on Orlando. He made a cover, but JBL broke up the pin attempt at 15:20. Orlando and JBL argued over pin attempts. They came to an agreement before Orlando pulled JBL through the ropes to the floor. Hardy hit the side effect on Orlando. Benoit instantly grabbed Hardy and dropped him to the mat with the Crippler Crossface. Hardy resisted for a good ten seconds before he tapped out. Booker and Sharmell nearly blew a gasket on commentary. Benoit indicated he wanted the U.S. Title back. Benoit laughed while Booker and Sharmell stormed to the back.

Afterwards, Teddy Long confronted Booker and Sharmell after they walked through the curtain. Long reminded them that Benoit will challenge for the U.S. Title. Long gave Booker nine days to get ready for his title defense at No Way Out. No more substitutes. Long said Booker will forfeit the strap if he can't wrestle. Back to the ring, Benoit got some face time as Cole promoted the match.

WINNER: Chris Benoit at 16:47. Pretty lifeless match until Benoit came back with the Germans at the end. Booker T has teetered on being a good heel and being a nuisance on commentary lately. This week, Booker became more of a hindrance to the match with the constant rambling.

- Backstage, JBL and Jillian Hall were interrupted by Kristal. She tried to conduct an interview, but JBL snapped on her. He said he could beat anyone. Bobby Lashley walked into the picture and JBL stopped mid-sentence. After a brief pause to let the crowd cheer, Lashley challenged JBL for a match at the PPV. Jillian answered, using JBL's own words that he can beat anyone at any time. JBL wasn't too happy, but changed his tune to save face accept Lashley's proposal. Simple and effective for establishing Lashley.

- Matt Hardy was selling the Crossface like he was shot in the arm. Melina and MNM walked by. She told them to go on ahead without her. Melina approached Hardy and asked what he has to show for his pain and struggles. She offered him a chance to be part of a winning team. "If you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours," Melina told Hardy. She walked away. Hardy stared at her without showing any emotion. Good tease.

- Josh Matthews was backstage with Daivari and Mark Henry. Daivari rambled about Kurt Angle. He promoted Mark Henry as the next heavyweight champion. Henry said Angle couldn't beat him. He said Undertaker was in the wrong place at the wrong time stealing his title opportunity. He vowed to take out Undertaker just like Batista. There's barely any chemistry between Daivari and Henry.

- 51 days until WrestleMania 22. Michael Cole talked about the return of Saturday Night's Main Event in March.

- MNM walked to the ring. Melina challenged any tag team for an open tag match. London and Kendrick ran to the ring to challenge.

2 -- MNM (MERCURY & NITRO w/Melina) vs. PAUL LONDON & BRIAN KENDRICK -- Non-title match

Michael Cole went into Chick Hearn radio play-by-play mode calling the action in the same breath and tone early on to establish the importance of the battle in the ring. Kendrick and London exchanged tags early on working on Nitro. Nitro took Kendrick to the MNM corner. They began working on Kendrick. Kendrick came back with a monkey flip, head scissors, and drop kick. London took a tag at 2:30. He missed with a side kick to the head and took a clothesline to the back of the head. London escaped a corner move and hit a dropsault for a nearfall. London threw Kendrick into the air for a double dropkick on MNM. The crowd wasn't inspired to respond. London flew over the top rope onto MNM on the outside. Back in the ring, Melina distracted the referee allowing MNM to take control. They isolated Kendrick as the crowd remained quiet. London took a tag, but the referee never saw it. Meanwhile, MNM hit the Snap Shot on Kendrick for the pin.

WINNERS: MNM at 6:17. So much for the formula of the young upstart babyfaces winning a non-title match setting up a title match. When WWE treats London and Kendrick like two faceless cruiserweights, you can't expect an audience to care about them or get into a match. I've heard more noise in the corner of a college library.

- Michael Cole said Randy Orton will "set the record straight" next. Cole wondered aloud what record he has to set straight.

[Commercial Break]

- Rey Mysterio gave us a video tour of the recent trip to Japan. He got someone at a newsstand to throw out the "west side" sign. JBL said he's the biggest thing in Japan since "Godzilrah" and King Kong. Kurt Angle said they treat wrestlers like royalty.

- Backstage, Randy Orton stared at the floor before clearing his throat to begin commenting on the things he said last week. Randy brought up the Eddie Guerrero comments. Looks like a set-up. He said it caused quite a stir. He paused and lost his train of thought because he couldn't even repeat his words about Eddie. He rolled footage from last week. After footage aired, Randy was nowhere to be seen. Cole and Tazz speculated as to what was going on.

- Randy's music hit and he came out in Eddie's low-rider. Tazz said Randy has sunk to a new low even after last week. He said Randy is an embarrassment to Smackdown. He stepped out of the low-rider and took the mic. He smirked that Randy Orton smirk. He rhetorically asked if he really meant what he said last week. He said, "Not really, maybe he's in Heaven, maybe he's in Hell, I really don't care." Randy said he used Eddie's name to get under Rey's skin and get what he wanted: a shot at his title opportunity. "It worked perfectly," Randy said. "I have gotten what I deserve - I will go to No Way Out and I will beat Rey Mysterio to go on to WrestleMania. Then, it's destiny time." He predicted a WrestleMania title win as one lone woman shrieked somewhere in the arena. The fans wanted Rey. He rhetorically asked himself about the low-rider. "I've got a point to make," Randy said. "For the last week, I've had to listen to people talk about how nasty of a person I am because of what I said about Eddie Guerrero. Guess what people? Eddie Guerrero was no saint." He said he had proof in the form of Eddie's autobiography. Before reading time could commence, Rey Mysterio jumped Randy from behind. He pounded away before referees ran to the ring to hold Rey back. Rey broke free then attacked Randy some more. Rey had to be restrained. "I've never seen Rey Mysterio in this state of mind," Michael Cole said. Randy had that far-away look in his eyes. A physician put a light in Randy's eyes to see if he was still alive. As poor in taste as this storyline is, Rey has gained that extra "hard-hitting" toughness factor to develop into a serious main event babyface.

3 -- GREGORY HELMS vs. NUNZIO -- Cruiserweight Title match

Kid Kash came out to watch the match. Cole said Kash gets his CW Title re-match next week against the winner tonight. Cole put over Smackdown leading in key male demographics last week. Helms stared down Kash in between working over Nunzio in the ring. Helms hit a cross body block from the top rope after Nunzio had to jump in the air to break Helms's fall. Helms made a nonchalant cover for a nearfall. The crowd remained silent. Nunzio ducked a clothesline and connected with a neck breaker. Nunzio snapped off a head scissors as Tazz and Cole tried to talk over the silence. Nunzio hit a side suplex. He went for the Sicilian Slice, but Helms moved out of the way. Helms connected with a glancing back breaker across his knee then hit the Shining Wizard. He made the pin as Kash pointed at the imaginary watch on his wrist.

WINNER: Gregory Helms at 4:14. No crowd heat...again.

- Krystal asked Palmer Cannon about "the merger." Palmer played dumb for a few seconds before saying he's excited. The juniors ran into the picture and Palmer let them horse around the interview set while talking to Krystal. Ken Kennedy interrupted by announcing himself. Paul Burchill ripped through the curtain backstage with his hook and came out with the Johnny Depp pirate look. Kennedy and Palmer went silent. He said, "Hello" to both before walking away. Weird.

[Commercial Break]

Cole said the juniors look like Power Rangers. Cole said Valencia looks like a cruiserweight wrestler when, in actuality, he looks more like a mid-sized heavyweight. It can't help the cruiserweight wrestlers to have a guy compared to a cruiserweight selling for an opponent at the four foot level. Cole and Tazz joked about the size of the wrestlers. Fit Finlay ran to the ring and clobbered a few juniors, prompting the match to be thrown out. Finlay toyed with the juniors like a cat playing with a small lizard. Finlay took the mic and said he had some 'splaining to do. He said he takes what happens in the ring very seriously. He said he wants a fight. Cole pandered to the audience and asked, "Why beat the hell out of these little junior guys?"

WINNERS: No Contest at 2:37. Well, juxtaposed against the juniors, Finlay looked like a giant bully, which fits the gimmick. I guess that's one way for the juniors to serve a purpose taking up five minutes of TV time.

- We came back to the sound of Ted DiBiase introducing the Undertaker from way back in the fake 'Taker storyline of the early '90s. We saw clips from Undertaker's career accomplishments. Michael and Tazz ran down the No Way Out card.

- Backstage, Booker T and Sharmell were threatening to sue Teddy Long if he gets injured at the PPV. They walked to their car and found a giant pile of worms in the trunk of the car. Sharmell freaked out. Somewhere, Boogeyman was lurking.

- Mark Henry walked out for the main event match against Undertaker.

[Commercial Break]

5 -- MARK HENRY (w/Daivari) vs. THE UNDERTAKER

Undertaker's entrance clocked in at 3:12 this week, which was enough time to finish dinner. They locked up early on. They held onto a collar and elbow tie up for a while jockeying for position. Henry delivered a head butt after tossing Undertaker across the ring. Henry clotheslined Undertaker hard to the mat. Henry went for a seated splash on the bottom rope, but Undertaker moved out of the way. Henry went clear through the ropes and landed on his feet. Frustrated, he kicked the ring steps as Undertaker recovered in the ring.

[Commercial Break]

Right off the break, Undertaker reversed an Irish Whip and threw Henry straight into the ring steps. Henry flew across the floor with the steps. Undertaker threw some stiff right hands before going back into the ring. He attacked Henry before Henry caught him in the corner with a bear hug into a corner splash. Henry worked over Undertaker near the ropes, choking him. On an aside, Undertaker looked leaner and in better physical shape. Henry took Undertaker to the outside and slammed him into the guardrail. The crowd remained quiet during Henry's beat down on Taker. Undertaker fired back with right and left hands getting the crowd into the match. He delivered a charging clothesline in the corner. They collided in the center of the ring before Undertaker went for a chokeslam. Henry shook him off and went for a splash, but Undertaker moved and set up for the chokeslam. He connected as the crowd exploded. Daivari called for back up. Mercury and Nitro charged to the ring with Melina leading the way. They attacked Undertaker, prompting the match to be thrown out.

Undertaker fought off Mercury and Nitro before Henry clipped Taker from behind. Kurt Angle, who was in hiding for an hour and 56 minutes receiving the Cena booking treatment, charged the ring. He attacked Henry and hit an improbable German Suplex. MNM took Germans before Angle dragged Henry to his feet. Angle went for a move off the ropes, but Henry splashed him with a double-arm clothesline. Undertaker clotheslined Henry through the ropes to the outside. The referee tried to hand Angle his title belt, but Taker took it and stared at it. After contemplating what to do with the belt, he threw it down at Angle, who was recovering on his backside. Teddy Long came out and announced a handicap match for next week. Angle & Taker vs. MNM & Henry. Undertaker and Angle glanced at each other without revealing any emotions. Henry celebrated the announcement.

WINNER: No Contest at 13:26. WWE took Angle's two separate feuds and intertwined them nicely with this show-closing angle. The match itself was actually good with Undertaker looking more mobile than we're accustomed to. Good cliffhanger setting up next week and the PPV. WWE is taking a page out of the Batista-Eddie Guerrero "feud out of respect" storyline to set up the Angle-Undertaker match at the PPV where there really isn't a conflict between the two right now. That could change next week, but WWE is hoping people will buy the PPV to see if a conflict arises and leads to a competitive bout in the ring.

Vickie Guerrero And Daughters Ringside At PPV

During the Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Oront match that will take place on February 19, in Baltimore, at No Way Out, its being reported that Vickie Guerrero and her daughters will be at ringside during the match.

Reports indicate that there is some major heat within the WWE about this decision made. It really isn't a huge surprise as many in the company felt the writing team's decision to allow Randy Orton to refer to Eddie Guerrero as being in "hell" crossed the line big time.

Its was reported earlier that currently all the creative ideas have been mainly created by Vince McMahon himself, but it may have been possible for the writing team to actually have came up with this idea.

WWE's reasons why fans hate John Cena

Triple H believes that John Cena lost the crowd's support due to Kurt Angle's failure to portray an effective heel.

One excuse WWE officials are using to explain his souring rapport with male WWE fans, however, is that the wrestler is simply too good looking. Those buying into this logic feel that male fans are threatened by the wrestler's looks.

WWE used the same excuse when fans turned on Shawn Michaels much earlier in his career.

Update On New Japan/WWE, & How TNA Is Involved posted an update earlier today stating that after a meeting lasting several hours with Simon Inoki, WWE is optimistic about developing a working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. ““We also talked about different opportunities between WWE and Japan.” said John “Ace” Laurinaitis of the meeting with Inoki. “I wish his company the best of luck in the future, and chances are that there will be another meeting between us scheduled soon.”

It should be noted that TNA and New Japan have been working together for a while now. WWE’s very public coverage of the meeting with New Japan could be another shot at TNA, similar to the time they ran a story on “Jarrett At WWE Headquarters” when Jerry Jarrett was there not too long ago.

It’s been previously reported that TNA has plans for another World X-Cup sometime this year, and they would very likely want talent from New Japan to compete in.

It’s unknown right now whether the meeting between Inoki and WWE was a serious one, and if so what effects it would have on their relationship with TNA.

Shocking Rumor Regarding John Cena At Royal Rumble

PWInsider reports that a rumor is going around backstage that WWE spliced in footage of the crowd popping, from a previous event, when Cena won the title at the Rumble. This could have been from something a few years ago with The Rock or Steve Austin, and was used because the crowd didn’t pop as loud as they had hoped for Cena.

WWE originally took the title off of Cena because most of their male adult demographic had been booing him, however didn’t want to turn him heel because of how much merchandise he moves and the fact that the child and female demographics love him.

There are several indications that there is nothing behind these rumors however, one being that it is extremely hard to splice in old footage into a live broadcast without anyone noticing. Another is that WWE probably wouldn’t have put the title back on Cena if they thought people were going to boo him, however as we all know, WWE does a lot of things that may not make sense to us.

It is still unknown whether Cena knows about this or, if it is true, whose decision it was.

WWE did recently do this for the clip of Candice Michelle on The Tonight Show that they added to their website.

Matt Cappotelli Addresses Brain Tumor At OVW Tapin

An Inspirational Champion
Feb. 9, 2006

The entire OVW roster surrounded the ring Wednesday night in Louisville, KY, as WWE Tough Enough III winner and OVW Champion Matt Cappotelli addressed the crowd in a truly touching moment.

The 26-year-old Cappotelli, who was on the verge of debuting on WWE television several times before being sidelined by a series of unfortunate events, was making his first OVW appearance since being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. During his speech, Cappotelli expressed his love for professional wrestling and said that he would like to lead by example. He then did exactly that when he surrendered his title over to OVW official Danny Davis. According to the emotional Cappotelli, he fully accepts the responsibility of being a champion and his current situation unfortunately prohibits him from being champion right now.

Being a man of faith, Cappotelli believes that being diagnosed with a brain tumor happened for a reason. During his emotional speech, the Tough Enough III winner said that his faith will never waiver. In fact, he hopes to be an inspirational example to others going through similar situations.

The touching moment continued as many members of the OVW roster offered words of support as the crowd chanted “We love you, Matt.”

Afterwards, OVW official Paul Heyman was visibly moved by Cappotelli’s heartfelt speech, saying “It was surreal. It was amazing. It was divine.” will have video footage of Cappotelli’s speech later today.

I think I speak for everyone when I say, "Thank you, Matt. Good luck to you in the future! I know we'll see you again."
